Sharjah drivers can now get up to 35% off traffic fines if paid within 60 days
Dubai: If you have received a traffic fine in Sharjah, you may be eligible for a discount, especially if you pay it early. Under a new decision approved by the Sharjah Executive Council, motorists can now receive up to 35 per cent off their traffic fines if payment is made within 60 days of the violation.
Here’s everything you need to know about the discount scheme and how to pay your Sharjah traffic fines online using the Ministry of Interior (MOI) app.
In an effort to encourage prompt payments and reduce the financial burden on residents, Sharjah authorities now offer two tiers of discounts on traffic fines:
35 per cent discount if the fine is paid within 60 days of the violation.
25 per cent discount if paid within one year, but after the 60-day window.
The 35 per cent discount also applies to:
Vehicle impoundment duration
Impoundment fees
Late payment penalties
These discounts do not apply to violations categorised as serious offences.
This initiative was announced following a decision by the Sharjah Executive Council during its weekly meeting chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Council.
You do not need to visit a service centre or police station to pay your traffic fines in Sharjah. Instead, you can settle them quickly online and still benefit from the discount, depending on the violation type.
