Dubai: Dubai Culture’s summer camps are back this July and August, offering children and youth a range of hands-on educational activities across heritage sites, libraries, and cultural centres.

As part of the ‘Dubai Destinations’ campaign, the camps aim to nurture creativity, cultural awareness and community spirit among participants aged four to 14.

1. Archaeology-themed workshops at Al Shindagha Museum

Running from July 14 to 18 and July 21 to 25, the Archaeology Adventure camp at Al Shindagha Museum is open to children aged six to 12. Young participants will explore the world of archaeology through petroglyph studies, metal casting, and excavation tool use. The camp also includes a scavenger hunt and a field visit to the Restoration House, where children will see how artefacts are preserved.

Cost - limited-time early bird offer and secure a ticket for Dh350 + VAT (regular price Dh500 + VAT).

  • Week 1 Early Bird: Valid from 14 June to 29 June 2025

  • Week 2 Early Bird: Extended until 6 July 2025

2. Innovation meets tradition at Dubai Public Libraries

Dubai Public Libraries will host two summer camp sessions: July 14 to 25 and August 4 to 15, at locations including Al Mankhool, Al Twar, Al Safa Arts & Design, Al Rashidiya, Umm Suqeim, and Hatta libraries. New venues this year include Al Barsha Community Centre and Al Mizhar Majlis.

Under the theme Heritage and Innovation, the camp will introduce participants aged 4 to 14 to traditional Emirati customs such as Yowla dance and boat building, alongside future-focused activities like sustainable design, chatbot robotics, and AI-powered writing workshops. The programme concludes with public exhibitions showcasing the children’s projects.

Cost - The registration fee for the camp is Dh210 for Dubai Public Library members and Dh420 for non-members, with members receiving a 50% discount on the camp fee.

3. Creative expression at Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children

Open to children aged 4 to 13, the A Burst of Imagination camp at Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children will run in two sessions: July 7 to 18 and August 4 to 15. Activities include abstract and expressionist painting, clay sculpting, music, filmmaking, puppet theatre design, photography, and animation.

4. Etihad Museum offers certified guide training for youth

Etihad Museum will run its summer camp under the theme Certified Cultural Guide from August 4 to 8 and August 11 to 15, for students aged 8 and up. Campers will explore the UAE’s union and national history while developing public speaking and tour-guiding skills.

Those who complete the course and pass the final assessment will receive a Certified Cultural Guide certificate.
