Dubai: AI doesn’t need to get all too complex for everyday users. That’s exactly how Samsung has integrated AI-enabled features into its latest flagship releases – the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Fold7.

Need AI help? Just ask your phone

Nowhere is this on better display than the Flip7’s cover screen, where the Gemini Live – the Google AI assistant – can help with a few things. Getting ready for a trip. Flip7 users need to say what they need from Gemini – and let Gemini get the flight details (from Samsung wallet), set a reminder on when to head for the airport, and also provide a listicle of top restaurants the end destination.

And if it’s fashion tips, the Flip7 user needs, it’s there. Let the camera sharing on Gemini Live, and let AI provide some tips on which clothes would be best suited for the weather at your destination.

So, make AI-enabled features as accessible as possible, and there are takers. (Honor’s done it, Oppo too, and so has Huawei.)

“By bringing rich multimodal AI capabilities, we’ve created a device that adapts, anticipates and empowers users, unlocking a smarter more intuitive way to engage with the world, said T. M. Roh, President and acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) at Samsung Electronics.

Will new entry model help Flip7?

Samsung brought in a new entry model priced at Dh3,499 for the Flip7, which it says will do much to convince first-time buyers choose a flip model.

“The Flip7 FE (will) help us bring innovation to a wider range of users,” said Fadi Abu Shamat, VP and Head of Mobile eXperience Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

The Flip and the Fold have been niche devices through the years (they first came to market in 2019), but this year's launch does seem as if Samsung has done quite a bit to top up the features and the way they look and feel. And with AI and Gemini, there could be more users coming in.

Fold7 trims down - and still packs a bigger screen!

It’s a much slimmer Fold7 that’s going to hit UAE stores soon. Impressive enough because Samsung had to factor in two screens when slicing and dicing the size. Even then, the main display on the Galaxy Z Fold7 is all of ‘11% larger than the previous generation’. And providing ‘even more screen real estate’ for content editing and multitasking across multiple apps.

So, the Fold7 comes to just about 215 grams, and Samsung emphasises this point of it being even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Fold7 is 8.9 mm thick when folded and 4.2 mm thick when unfolded. Nice...

Soon, the major promotions centred around the Flip7 and Fold7 will start, in a summer that's already seeing heavy offers on the latest smartphone collections. Expect more easy payment schemes from telcos too, with the base price of the Fold7 having seen a rise.

The Fold 7 series is priced Dh7,599 to Dh9,349.

"The pricing reflects these meaningful upgrades as well as our ongoing investment in R&D to push the boundaries of what’s possible in a foldable form factor," said Shamat.
