Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has been awarded the 2025 International Safety Award by the British Safety Council, recognising its outstanding commitment to managing health and safety across its worksites.

The award affirms RTA’s dedication to safeguarding employees, protecting resources, and promoting workplace well-being.

RTA achieved the highest recognition level ‘distinction’ among hundreds of applicants globally. The award submission showcased RTA’s comprehensive procedures and proactive initiatives that enhance occupational health and safety, elevate well-being in the workplace, and set a benchmark for industry best practices.

“This achievement reaffirms RTA’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of occupational health, safety, and well-being. It also reflects our continuous pursuit of excellence, in line with the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan 2024–2030, which places a strong emphasis on health, safety, and security; enhancing mobility safety; safeguarding assets and mobility systems; strengthening institutional security; and reinforcing occupational health,” RTA said in a statement issue don Wednesday.

Preventing workplace injuries

Awarded annually, the International Safety Award recognises organisations that excel in preventing workplace injuries and occupational illnesses, as well as those that champion mental health and employee well-being. Now in its 67th year, the award received 874 applications from 45 countries in 2025, spanning diverse sectors including construction, energy, manufacturing, oil and gas, and utilities.

The award reflects RTA’s excellence and reinforces its position among the world’s leading organisations in occupational health and safety. Not to mention that the health and safety of employees remain core values and a strategic priority embedded in all current and future decisions, projects, and initiatives.
